Given the rapid growth of a couple 3rd world countries as they go through their respective industrial revolutions, we could all ride bikes and the gross oil consumption over the next decade would still increase. Take China: Btw, I'd work on my theory a bit more if I were you. Saving money on gas removes a disincentive to consume more fuel, but by no means is it a 1:1 trade off. If I save 50%, I'm not going to drive twice as much.
